Extra Activities
Within the Academy our students benefit from a range of facilities and an enhanced sporting curriculum. They can take part in a wide variety of sports and experience the benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.
Students are also able to pursue some good sporting qualifications and we provide many opportunities for students of all abilities to enjoy a range of activities and achieve success in the sports that they enjoy the most.
At key stage 3 all students experience a wide and varied curriculum focusing on developing the key principles needed to be successful in leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
At key stage 4 students can undertake a range of sporting qualifications and have the opportunity to excel at a higher level.

Barnfield West has made massive strides in its sports offering since achieving Academy status two years ago. It now runs morning, break time and after academy clubs and has introduced new activities such as Brazilian soccer skills, cheerleading, trampolining, Judo, dodge ball and table tennis.
Students have benefitted from new equipment after the Academy was awarded funding from Sport England and the Sport Unlimited Programme and are eagerly awaiting the opening of sports facilities at the £30 million new build in 2012.
The new facilities will include a full size sports hall, all weather pitch, outdoor hardcourt, extensive playing fields, a movement studio for dance and gymnastic based activities, and a 24 station fitness suite.

Extra-curricular Activities
Our links with the local community is an integral part of our work and we have many partnerships that are in place for the benefit of young people across Luton and others within our local community.
Our new build will provide our students with access to a range of state of the art resources which will be available for people of all ages throughout the academy day, evenings, weekends and academy holidays.
