A Word from the Chief Executive of the Federation

Welcome to the Barnfield website.   This site is designed to enable you to access information you need, easily and speedily. Barnfield’s success story is founded on a simple philosophy – keeping our students, community, employers and staff at the heart of all thinking. We aim to provide a warm, caring, safe, dynamic and well structured learning environment where the needs of each and every person are met.

Barnfield, a Beacon College, graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted,  is recognised nationally as a visionary and dynamic organisation that leads the way, driving up standards and outcomes. We have also become the first Further Education Federation in the country to be awarded the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold Champion standard.

It was September 2007, when Barnfield broke new ground by becoming the first Further Education College in the country to sponsor two significantly underperforming secondary schools, create academies and form a federation.  Since this point GCSE results have more than tripled in the Academies and from a position of special measures, they are now judged as "Outstanding" and "Good" by Ofsted.  These are the highest grades achieved in the history of these schools. 

Over the last four years the Federation has grown in size and maturity.  The Federation is now led by the Barnfield Education Partnership Trust  - members of the Federation include Barnfield College (16 years upwards), Barnfield South and West Academies (11-18 years), the country's first FE sponsored Studio School (14-18 years enterprise academy) and Barnfield Moorlands Primary School (4-11 years).  There are further academies joining the Federation in 2012.

As a federation, we believe in respect and traditional values - we see these as the foundation blocks on which to build success.  I am excited about the future and determined to provide anyone that attends Barnfield, with every opportunity to reach their goals.
