Accelerated Reader is an assessment that provides additional information to students regarding reading rates, amount of reading, and other variables related to reading.

A Message from Charlotte Linehan - Assistant Principal, KS3 & Literacy

Since September 2012 Year 7 and Year 8 have been participating in Accelerated Reader, a programme designed to improve a child's reading age and reading skills. Once a book has been read, the student takes an on-line quiz to demonstrate their understanding. If a learner passes the quiz, then the programme will set appropriate reading targets and total the number of words the child has read to date.

I'm keen to share reading successes and celebrate excellent progress. As a result, we now publish and display every learner's name who achieves 100% in their quizzes along the English corridor, and I have begun a 'Word Millionaires' club: an exclusive group of students who have read and successfully quizzed, culminating in over one million words, having been read.
